For New Years Eve we got to spend the evening at our friends home (Trump's) and have a game night and lots of yummy treats!! At midnight all of the kids went out side to bang pots & pans and do poppers. What fun! Thanks Trump Family!!

For New Years Day, Ethan & mom (Jen) went on a date to
'Color Me Mine' where we got to pick out our own piece of ceramic pottery and then paint it.

Ethan got bored while waiting for mom to finish her kettle, so he started taking pictures of himself :D
Our almost finished products. We had to leave them until Monday night so they can get fired and become shiney and really bright dark colors ... stay tuned for the next posting of our completed project!

6 Foot Snowman!

Jesse made his first snowman.
He made it 6 feet tall and it took him 2 hours.
Jess even put real coal on for the eyes! He was so fat that the scarf wouldn't even fit all the way around his neck.

Jacob helped out a bit with a couple piles of snow.
Ethan wanted to build his own, but gave up and went for just doing snow angels.
Then they gave up after an hour and came in for hot chocolate.

Santa's Reindeer not forgotten!

The boys sprinkled a mixture of glitter & oats for Santa's reindeer on the snow on Christmas Eve. The glitter is so it will sparkle in the moonlight for the reindeer to see in the night to find our house and the oats (oatmeal) is a snack for them while Santa puts the presents under the tree.

Here are our Christmas Decorations this year.

Wreaths like this that were pre-made at Michaels craft store were available for around $30/each. TOO much for me!
I made TWO of these wreaths for $12.00 total ... yes,
that is $6.00/each!

I (Jen) put the lights & ribbon on myself. Then I let Ethan & Jacob put the decorations on all by themselves where ever they wanted. After they went to bed I only moved a few towards the top that they had clumped at the bottom.

Okay, so there was a scarcity of posts from me this month. I think I made up for some of them the month before ... LOL!

I didn't have my camera out as much as I usually do, was busy with work and school. I will have to do a post on a cigarette discussion I had to have with my 4-year old at his request!

For Thanksgiving we went to Grandma Nez's house for breakfast made by Deb & Brandon for all of us ... thanks you two, it was great!! A few hours later we went to dinner at Chuck-A-Rama with some of Jen's family and Jesse's mom & sister were able to come down from Logan to spend a couple of days with us as well.

Since I (Jen) am the only one that does these posts I guess I will have to say, "Happy Birthday!" to myself!!

It is funny, this week I have had 2 people at two different times (that I don't really know) this week tell me that I look like I am 19 ... thanks people! So maybe and hopefully when I am 47 I will look like I am 33?!!

Yesterday morning at 7 o'clock I woke up to a "Happy Birthday" song by Jesse, Ethan & Jacob. With a cute little carrot cake (one of my favorite cakes) with just 4 (thank goodness!!) bright flickering candles, a rose balloon and a musical birthday card. This was a real surprise since none of them said one thing about it to give it away ... not even Jacob!!

Later in the day my nice little 4 year old gave me another (unplanned) gift of a clogged toilet that I tried plunging for 1/2 an hour and gave up on until Jesse got home to snake it for me, I don't care much for doing that part and I didn't know where the snake was anyways ... darn!

That night my sisters Debra & Becky were nice enough to take the boys to see Madagascar 2.

Which they all loved of course, and then fed them a pot roast. Thanks ladies!!

While Jesse & I got to go enjoy our own movie "Eagle Eye", this is a must see action packed movie if you haven't yet. Then we enjoyed a good Brazilian restraunt (Tucanos) with good adult conversaton.

I can't wait to see what the next 33 years will bring for me!

2008 Elections

Our voting poles opened at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Jesse and I got the kids up at 6:00 a.m. to head to the poles with them. Jesse was second in line while I stayed in the van with the boys while they watched 'Curious George'. Ten minutes before the poles opened the boys & I went inside to stand in line with Jesse, by then the line was out the door. A lot of people were impressed that we would bring our kids at that age that early in the morning with us to vote and told us what a good example we are, to show them that voting is an important thing.

So to all of you parents, even if you did not take your kids that early in the morning to the poles ... you still had to wait in line for a long time with your kids and that is a challenge in itself!! Thank you for being such good examples to them!

In closing I would just like to say thank you to all of you California voters who got out there to vote yes on Prop 8. And I know quite a few of you really pulled up your arm sleeves and actually helped to arrange rally's, went door-to-door, made phone calls, etc. for this to pass. This wasn't just for you, but for the rest of the United States. Thank you again and congratulations.

No we didn't tape it. I just told him we would keep it safe in the fridge and have it for dinner ... you know that 5 second rule

Both Ethan & Jacob think tape, glue and batteries will fix anything.

Jacob wanted Ethan's rolling backpack from Kindergarten for school this year, to be like his big brother and cousin Cameron (see below on Ethan's Back-to-school post).

As soon as he found his paper with his name on it he said, "Okay, bye mom".
His teacher said he is a completely different Jacob from within just 4 months. He wasn't as shy and he didn't need me to stay with him for the first 10-15 minutes until it was okay for me to leave. He barely let me stay long enough to take this picture.

Jacob wants to go to the same school with all of them SOOO badly. He is desperately bored and lonely just being with mom!! As soon as the kids are in school, after 1/2 an hour starts "mom, is Ethan out of school yet?!" ... poor Jacob! Nice to know he loves and misses his brother so much!

I thought I would give a plug for a new online community place for kids that was reported on the news today from KUTV 2 News. It was invented by a Provo, Utah dad because he was tired of his own elementary kids playing games that had no educational use and did not like the content of them.

In this online community kids learn math, English and science without even realizing it.

The other day I was in the living room while Ethan & Jacob were in the kitchen. Jacob had done something mean to Ethan. Ethan didn't raise his voice to Jacob at all. He just calmly told Jacob that was not a nice thing to do and asked Jacob, "whose team do you want to be on, Jesus or Satan?". And went on to tell Jacob, "because when you do mean things then you are on Satan's team and if you want to be on Jesus' team you need to be nice".

Jacob responded with, "I am going to pretend to be on Satan's team and (while holding up two little fists) then beat him up, then I will be on Jesus' team!".

They both had great big smiles on their faces while giggling after Jacob's commentary.

A funny thing happened to me (Jen) today.

This afternoon with 95 degree weather and a nice breeze, I had the car windows down with the radio turned up. I was at a stop light and singing to the radio louder than I realized. After a couple minutes of sitting there I heard clapping and whistling coming from a truck next to me. I looked over and it was from two (cute) guys listening to me.

Just had to share this since nothing like that has happened to me before.

They both wanted their heads shaved completely bald like their friends dad, but Jesse said "no, because your heads will get sunburned!". They were sad for a little bit, but they got over it and they love their hair so short for the summer and so their mom doesn't put gel in their hair.
Jacob doesn't like his hair to be spikey with hair gel because the girls at his preschool told him it looks cool like that and he doesn't want them to like it ... silly boy. :)
Ethan on the other hand just doesn't like the feeling of gel on his head!

Horseback Riding

I (Jen) have been helping out at a ranch just south of Provo with their horses.
We have been able to take the boys out to learn how to take care of the horses and get to ride them, which has been a fun experience for them. You can see pics below of them.
(in case you wonder who the third boy is in the pictures, it is Ethan & Jacob's cousin Cameron).
Which leads me into my (Jen) experience today. The horse I was riding today (in an outdoor arena) got spooked and started to bolt, then was bucking around. The guy (Rory, pictured below) I was riding with said that I squeezed my legs together so I wouldn't fall off, which got him to stop bucking but made him take off on a dead run. I kept hearing Rory yelling at me to turn him (this will make the horse turn in a circle and tire them out until it stops) ... this is easier said than done though when you have a horse on the run and your adrenaline going!

The horse was headed straight for a 5 foot metal fence and it was getting closer and closer. I was just thinking that I didn't want the horse to put the breaks on when he gets to the fence and have me fly over the him AND the fence. So instead of getting thrown by the horse I made myself fall off the horse. The other guy said I slid on my back (head first) about 4 feet until my head hit the metal bar on the fence. I opened my eyes and just saw this huge cloud of dust with Rory headed toward me. I got the wind knocked out of me pretty good, but after a few minutes I jumped back onto a different horse that is calmer so that my confidence wouldn't be broken. Amazingly I was calmer and wasn't as scared as I think I should have been!

Luckily I walked away with only a couple jammed fingers, concussion, bruised and dirt/rock rash on my back! Yes, I will still be going back. Not back on that horse though!

Jacob chose to go to Chuck E. Cheese for his 4th birthday. He was so excited because this was his first birthday party with preschool friends! He loved it!!

When Jacob gets upset for not getting his way, he goes and hides under the table for awhile. This day he stayed under there so long I guess he got tired ... guess it was a little boring under there.

Ethan wanted a Star Wars themed birthday party. So we made asteroids out of balls of foil and space ships out of paper plates and paper bowls.
We had a breakfast birthday with pancakes and fun toppings.
The kids especially loved it inside the outdoor tent!!

After playing a few rounds of musical chairs .... which the kids loved; they broke into a piniata! Then they played soccer and basketball.

Spikey Do's!

We were going to Macaroni Grill for Auntie Sarah's birthday.

She loves it when little boys have their hair spikey, so we did the boys hair crazy spikey just for her this day!!I like this one so much that I use it as my desktop on my laptop.

Timpanogos Cave Hike

We stopped off the side of the path in the only little piece of shade that was around to take a break.

We FINALLY made it to the top!!

This is inside the cave.
The cave walls were so cool ... figuratively and literally!
NOTE: make sure you take a sweatshirt no matter how
hot it is outside!! It is a little chilly inside the cave.

This hike took us 3 hours roundtrip (this includes a 1/2 hour tour of the caves). Ethan is totally my hero after this; he did the entire hike up and down all by himself!! Even when Jesse offered him a piggy back ride for a little bit he refused. Jacob did pretty good as well, he did almost half of it by himself. After we were done with the hike, the boys wanted to come back the next day and do it again.

In 2001 when we lived in San Jose, California in our first family ward after we were married; there were a bunch of us newlyweds that were expecting our 1st child all within months and even days of each other. Alex Delaney was born the day before Ethan. In fact, they were born in the same hospital (Good Samaritan) and the Delaney's were only two doors up from us.

Over the last few years some of us have moved out to Utah. Thanks to the Fredrick's for letting us and ALL of our kids that live out here now come hang out and have dinner at their home!

It is so fun to see how much these kiddos grow over the years!!Here are 4 of them from the original group.
